“Arjumand Painting Awards 2021” at Lahore Arts Council

Lahore (HRNW) The Lahore Arts Council hosts an Exhibition and the 6th Award ceremony, “Arjumand Painting Award,” in collaboration with “Gallery 6” here on Wednesday at Alhamra Art Gallery, the Mall. The “Gallery 6” is the most extensive private-sector art gallery in Islamabad, which organized over 100 national exhibitions and four international exhibitions (in Australia, India, and the USA).

In 2015, the Gallery initiated the biennial “Arjumand Painting Award (APA)” for Pakistani artists. It is a first-ever art award by any private gallery at the national level, presenting cash awards in substantial amounts. This award aims to recognize the emerging Pakistani artists 25 to 40 years of age who exhibit outstanding abilities and distinguished talent in painting.
It fills the void for appreciation and recognition of emerging outstanding painters aptly.

President Dabistan-e-Iqbal Mr. Mian Iqbal Salahuddin was the event’s chief guest who distributed the prizes among the winners. Gallery 6 received 192 entries for this time, in which 82 have been selected in the first phase for the Exhibition. This year six cash prizes will be awarded (First Prize is three lac, Second two lac, third one 1ac, and three merit prizes for 50,000 each. The jury includes Mr. RM Naeem, Ali Azmat, Muhammad Zeeshan, Sana Arjumand, and Irfan Gul Dahri.

Faisal Arjumand said that one could be surprised by the representation and representational art that is significant in the presented paintings. He further said that the works are beautiful; it is very satisfying to see all this together. Artists are connecting themselves to their culture, environment, and international milieu in a deep way that makes good art.

Director Arts and Culture Alhamra Zulfiqar Ali Zulfi said that the purpose of giving the award to young artists is to encourage them.
Executive Director Lahore Arts Council Farhat Jabeen congratulated all the winners and said that all the artworks were extraordinary. She praised the artists for putting on display brilliant works.

The Exhibition will remain open till 14 July from 10 a.m to 5 p.m.
