UO holds seminar on research and publications

Okara (HRNW) The University of Okara’s Department of Library & Information Sciences organized a seminar where Prof Dr Khalid Mahmood, Dean Faculty of Information & Media Studies, University of the Punjab, delivered a special lecture on the incorporation of modern information and communication technologies in the academic research in order to get international recognition.
At this eve, the UO’s Vice Chancellor, Prof Dr Muhammad Zakria Zakar, highlighted the importance of research by saying, “Academicians have a key role to play in finding solution to certain social problems and this can be done through the production of high quality research in our universities.” Dr Mahmood urged the students and the faculty members to focus on getting their research published in the international journals. “We can create our global identity and acknowledgement through the publication of our research in international journals.
Our scholars need to adapt to the changing global landscape of research.” Speaking in the seminar, the Coordinator, Department of Library & Information Sciences, Rashid Maqbool, told that it was impertinent to seek awareness about the terms and conditions of international journals in order to get articles published in there. Shedding light on the purpose of the seminar, he said that it was meant for enabling the Pakistani researchers to access international recognized journals. Dr Saira Hanif from University of the Punjab, Dr Salman Bin Naeem from Islamia University Bahawalpur and Dr Misbah from the UO were also present in the event.
