Karachi Water Board shuts down Sherpao hydrant on Sindh High Court order

KARACHI: (HRNW) The Karachi Water and Sewerage Board (KWSB) on the orders of the Sindh High Court (SHC) has withdrawn the management of one of the six government water hydrants from the contractor and immediately stopped the operation.

Asadullah Khan, Managing Director, Karachi Water and Sewerage Board, said that the Sindh High Court had ordered to stop the operation of Sherpao Water Hydrant near Steel Town.

According to Asadullah Khan, following the court orders, the management of water hydrant was withdrawn from the contractor on the night between October 28 and 29 and the operation was stopped.

He said that a detailed report in this regard would be submitted to the Supreme Court.

A single bench of the Sindh High Court had issued contempt notices to the Chief Secretary Sindh, MD Water Board Superintendent Engineers and other concerned. The next hearing on the petition has been fixed for November 8.
