Successful operation on a stroke patient at the National Institute of Cardiology

Karachi (HRNW): Free treatment for paralysis has started in a major hospital in Pakistan. The National Institute of Cardiology has set a new record in cardiac healthcare by performing the first stroke intervention procedure.
Doctors at the National Institute of Cardiology have crossed another milestone. For the first time in Karachi, a paralyzed patient was successfully operated on and saved from disability.
Professor Irfan Lutfi and his team performed the first CT scan and CT angiogram of a 48-year-old woman suffering from paralysis. And then through the operation, a stent was inserted in the patient’s brain and a blood clot was removed.
The patient is medically better after the operation. Prof. Nadeem Qamar, Executive Director, NICV, congratulated the team of doctors on the successful operation. He said that NICVD is the first cardiac hospital in Sindh where the stroke intervention procedure is being performed absolutely free of cost.
