Govt works to ensure that every child receives quality education and healthcare: Alvi

Islamabad (HRNW) The President of Pakistan Dr. Arif Alvi presided over an official ceremony in Islamabad on 20 November, together with Minister Shireen Mazari Ministry of Human Rights, UNICEF Representative Aida Girma, and children who came from all over the country.

De. Alvi said that the Government of Pakistan works to ensure that every child receives quality education and healthcare, and that no child is discriminated on the basis of his or her ethnicity, religion, gender or disability.

Dr. Mazari said that there is “a lot to celebrate, but also a long road ahead”, adding that Pakistan is committed to deliver children’s rights as enshrined in the Constitution, the Convention on the Rights of the Child and its protocols.

Noting that UNICEF celebrates its 75th anniversary, Ms. Girma called on everyone to work together towards a better future for every child in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic and of the climate crisis. She also called on helping children and young people raise their voices on the issues which matter to them.
