NA-133 by-election: ECP takes notice of video scandal

ISLAMABAD: (HRNW) The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on Sunday took notice of the video that shows massive irregularities before the NA-133 by-election.

A video is doing rounds on social media which shows that some people wearing masks are sitting at an office and bundles of money are kept before them, from which they are giving money, after taking the oath, to people. The ones receiving the money are also wearing masks to hide their identities. Behind them, posters of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz candidate of the constituency NA-133 are visible on walls.

Returning Officer Basit Ali in his letter to the District Commissioner Lahore, Inspector General Police Punjab, NADRA and PEMRA Chairman has directed the authorities has asked for details about the case till November 30.

The letter said that the video that surfaced on social media shows that money is being used to influence votes and oaths being undertaken. It further said that the DC Lahore and IG Police should launch a forensic test of the video to verify it and identify the people present in the video and arrest them.

The DC and Police IG are also asked to identify the building where the video was shot.
