President Arif Alvi calls on Iranian, Tajik counterparts

ISLAMABAD: (HRNW) President Dr Arif Alvi on Sunday met his Iranian counterpart Seyed Ebrahim Raisi and Tajik counterpart Emomali Rahmon separately, on the sidelines of the 15th ECO Summit in Ashgabat, Turkmenistan.

Talking to Ebrahim Raisi Arif Alvi underscored the need for establishment of regular bilateral mechanisms between Pakistan and Iran for trade including utilisation of barter trade mechanism.

The president underlined that Pakistan considered Iran as an important Muslim neighbour and brother based on deep-rooted historical, religious and cultural linkages between the two countries.

He expressed satisfaction at the recent operationalisation of International Road Transport shipments from Pakistan to Turkey and Azerbaijan, which would be beneficial for the entire ECO region.
