Germany:74,405 new infections and 7-day incidence of 553.2

Germany registered 74,405 new coronavirus infections and 7-day incidence of 553.2, another record, according to the country’s disease control body.

The Robert Koch Institute (RKI) in the capital Berlin reported a record 553.2 new infections per 100,000 people per week on Monday, surpassing the 528.2 reported on Monday.

This compares to 387,9 new infections per 100,000 people per week one week ago.

German health authorities recorded 74,405 new coronavirus infections in the last 24-hour period. A week earlier, 45,690 were recorded.

Meanwhile, a total of 193 coronavirus deaths were reported across Germany in the latest daily count, compared to 322 a week earlier.

The Robert Koch Institute has counted 8 074 527 coronavirus infections in Germany since the pandemic began. The true number of cases is likely much higher as many infections are not detected.

The number of patients in hospital per 100,000 of the population was at 3.14 on Monday, compared to 3.24 per 100,000 on Sunday. On Friday it was 3.23.

The latest figures from the RKI dashboard released early Tuesday show that 7,050,100 people in Germany have recovered from coronavirus, while the number of people who have died from or with Covid-19 is 115,842.
