Pakistan wasn’t built to make Zardaris, Sharifs rich: PM

Faisalabad (HRNW) Pakistan wasn’t built to make the Sharifs and Zardaris rich, Prime Minister Imran Khan said during a speech on Wednesday. He lambasted opposition parties PML-N and PPP for their “double standards”.

The premier inaugurated health cards for the people of Faisalabad and lauded the Punjab government for the Rs400 billion project. “In all these years, it was the state’s responsibility to look after its people. But what did our leaders do? They would run away to abroad even for a small cough.”

In all these years, the prime minister pointed out, countless presidents and prime ministers came, but no one thought about the poor segments. “Not a single leader took steps to follow the teachings of the Holy Prophet (PBUH).”

He said that the opposition parties, that have come together today against the government, used to be at each other’s throats 20 years back. “It wasn’t the PTI that tore open Asif Ali Zardari’s stomach for money… It was PML-N that sent him to jail.”

The PM remarked that Pakistan wasn’t built to make the Sharifs and Zardaris rich like Tata and Birla. “In Sindh, there’s a leader [referring to Bilawal Bhutto Zardari] who can’t even speak in Urdu properly.”

The prime minister, imitating Bilawal, bashed the PPP chairperson for ignoring the people of Sindh. “You oppose health cards and talk about investing in hospitals. What were you doing all these years? Have you ever talked to the poor people of Sindh? Have you ever listened to their problems?”

Coming to the former president, PM Khan said that Asif Ali Zardari buys politicians. “On the other hand, Nawaz Sharif, who claimed he was suffering heart problems, can be seen climbing stairs. Where’s the heart problem now?”

“I didn’t come to politics for money. I already had everything I wanted. Thirty years back, I had decided to go on a jihad against these rulers.”

The premier revealed he joined politics to make Pakistan a better country. “We need to understand that Pakistan was built for a reason. It was built to follow the Riyasat-e-Madina. All the Muslims in the sub-continent voted for Pakistan despite knowing they may not be able to become a part of it. They voted for a dream.”

Today, the prime minister regretted, so many Muslims in India are suffering.
