Islamabad (HRNW) Pakistan Federal Union of Journalists has condemned the arrest of Editor Mohsin Baig and harassment of his family members by the Federal Investigation Agency’s officials.
In a statement issued on Wednesday the preident Shahzada Zulfiqar and Secretary General Nasir Zaidi said that arrest of an editor in this way is shameful and reeks of fascist mentality of the ruling elite. “Such arrest without a warrant gives an impression that the country is not ruled by law.”
We demand a judicial probe into the matter, the two leaders said, adding that the journalist should be released immediately.
They asserted such tactics amounted to curbing media and intimidating journalists.
