Excise department’s road checking campaign ends, 4 crore 82 lakh tax collected

Karachi (HRNW)  On the direction of Provincial Minister for Excise & Taxation and Narcotics Control Department Mukesh Kumar Chawla, the road checking campaign for collection of taxes from tax defaulting vehicles continued from February 11 to February 18. During this campaign a total of 40017 vehicles were checked across the province.

According to details, 8767 vehicles were checked in Karachi, 11726 in Hyderabad and 3954 in Sukkur while 5365 in Larkana, 6201 in Mirpurkhas and 4004 vehicles were checked in Shaheed Benazirabad.

During the road checking campaign 2696 vehicles were impounded due to various reasons while the documents of 3725 vehicles were also seized. A total of Rs. 48.245 million was collected from these vehicles.
Meanwhile , Minister for Excise & Taxation and Narcotics Control Department & Parliamentary Affairs & Food Mukesh Kumar Chawla has thanked the people for their cooperation during the road checking campaign and said that the road checking campaign against tax defaulting vehicles has generated positive results. The road checking campaign has encouraged the owners of the vehicles to deposit taxes. He further said that he hoped that the owners of tax defaulting vehicles would soon deposit their taxes,adding that during the road checking campaign, the officers performed their duties efficiently. Provincial Minister for Excise & Taxation and Narcotics Control Department Mukesh Kumar Chawla said that another road checking campaign would be launched soon so owners of tax defaulting vehicles should deposit their taxes before the campaign started.
