Fazl believes MQM will be with opposition within days

Karachi (HRNW) Jamiat-e-Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman said Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) will be with the opposition within days.

He said this while addressing the media after meeting with the MQM-P leaders at the party’s Bahadurabad centre.

MQM-P, a key ally of the government ally, has seven seats in the National Assembly.

Fazl ur Rehman, who also heads the opposition alliance Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM), said Prime Minister Imran Khan is completely isolated. “This can be seen from the language he and his party leaders are using on TV and rallies.”

Fazlur Rehman said the PDM announced March 23 as the date for it’s long march against inflation long before the government decided the OIC Summit date.

“[The] government is trying to counter the no-confidence motion [against the PM] through OIC meeting,” he added.

MQM-P Convener Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui said although he values the opinion and advice of Maulan Fazl ur Rehman, but his party is living through “special circumstances”.

“They [the opposition parties] are lucky they are not facing the circumstances we are facing,” said Maqbool.

In the past 15 years, the political space for MQM-P has completely eroded. That’s why we have to take every step cautiously, he said.

Maqbool added that they have not been pushed to the wall but bricked up in the wall.

“Those parties [in the PDM] don’t have missing party workers. We are in the government, yet more than 100 party workers are missing.”

Maqbool said his party was with the government with the hopes that it will give them reasons to stay, but it has not happened.
