Prosecutors accuse Berlin car suspect of murder, attempted murder

German prosecutors have accused a man who drove his car into crowds of people on one of Berlin’s main thoroughfares of one case of murder and 31 cases of attempted murder.

The perpetrator “deliberately drove a vehicle” into two groups of people – a first group near the Kaiser Wilhelm Memorial Church and a second group of students and teachers one block away – said Sebastian Büchner, a spokesperson for the public prosecutor’s office.

A teacher that was a part of the group was killed in the incident and dozens of other people were injured.
