Sindh Minister Irrigation inspects ongoing rescue and repair works of Puran Dhoro breach at Badin

Badin (HRNW) Sindh Minister for Irrigation Department Jam Khan Shoro alongwith former member of the National Assembly Kamal Khan Chang and other PPP leaders has visited the place of the breach in Puran Dhoro channel and inspected the ongoing rescue and repair works of its embankments carried out by the rescue teams of the Irrigation Department near Jhuddo, District Badin. He also visited the different points of the Left Bank outfall drain (LBOD) to review the overall water situation arisen after the breach in Puran Dhoro. The concerned officers of the Irrigation Department briefed him about the step taken in order to close the breach. Sindh Minister Irrigation directed them to get it plugged within 24 hours and to ensure the saftey of the people’s lives and property. During his visit, he spoke with local peoples who were present on the breach site and asked from them about the water situation.
On this occasion, Sindh Minister said that the Puran Dhoro was cracked from two places due to recent heavy rains while the rescue teams of the Irrigation Department are engaged in the repair works of the embankments.”Ours rescue teams are using boats to shift the sand bags, sacks, wooden sticks and other necessary material at the site to close the breach at Paran Dhoro. Jam Khan Shoro said that water has overflowed 5 to 6 feet due to the crack in Paran Dhoro. He added that more than 12 thousands cusecs of water is flowing from LBOD and the whole water wil be passed through within two days as soon as the Puran Dhoro’s crack would be overcomed. He informed that more than 30 percent of the water has passed through and 75 percent of the repair & rescue work of the embankments of the Puran Dhoro has also been completed.
