Shikarpur man dies after failing to receive medical treatment, ambulance

Shikarpur (HRNW) A man, identified as Sikander Khokar, was shifted to a hospital in Shikarpur’s Garhi Yasin on a donkey cart Sunday afternoon after an ambulance failed to reach to him.

Khokar had been suffering from a heat stroke. He died at the hospital after not receiving medical treatment because of a lack of doctors.

According to his family and neighbours, even after Khokar had passed away, the hospital did not provide them any services. They took the body back home on the donkey cart.

The hospital’s medical superintendent, Dr Imtiaz Memon, on the other hand, claimed that the man was never brought to the hospital nor was an ambulance asked for.

A committee has been formed by Sukkur’s health secretary to investigate the matter and Dr Memon has been suspended unless the inquiry is completed.
