Berlin flat raided as part of investigation into Dresden jewel heist

Police raided a flat in Berlin on Tuesday as part of an investigation into the theft of priceless jewels from one of Europe’s most opulent museums.

Thieves broke into the Green Vault in the eastern German city of Dresden at dawn on November 25, 2019.

Two mobile phones and several documents were seized during the latest search operation in the German capital, the public prosecutor in Dresden said.

However, a fifth suspect remains on the run, according to a statement.

The suspect’s twin brother was captured in mid-December and is currently in pre-trial custody with three others.

All five are members of a sprawling Arab family known to police as the Remmo Clan in Berlin’s criminal underworld.
