Leipzig boss Nagelsmann warns of Liverpool backlash

Leipzig, Germany (dpa) – Liverpool should not be underestimated in the Champions League despite a run of three successive domestic defeats, RB Leipzig coach Julian Nagelsmann warned on Monday.

“They don’t have the results crisis in the Champions League, rather the Premier League,” he said before the last 16 first leg clash on Tuesday.

“They have written off the title there and their focus now lies fully on the Champions League. They will try to shake off the negative things.”

Leipzig are hosting their home leg of the contest in Budapest as Germany’s coronavirus rules mean Liverpool cannot enter the country to play.

Emil Forsberg, however, will not travel to the Hungarian capital as the playmaker continues to struggle with a knee problem.

“He has unfortunately not made it,” said Nagelsmann, who did include defensive all-rounder Benjamin Henrichs in his squad after a two-month injury break though the Germany international is not expected to feature.
