German authorities launched coordinated raids against the homes and offices of members of a neo-Nazi network involved in large-scale drug sales and money laundering.

Eight German nationals aged between 24 and 55 were arrested during the raids, police in the eastern state of Thuringia said. Another person was arrested spontaneously for drug possession.

Raids on 27 homes and commercial properties were conducted in Thuringia, with more than 500 officers involved in the search. Raids were also conducted in the states of Hesse and Saxony-Anhalt.

The officials confiscated items including a car, cash and drugs. A canine team and a drone were also deployed in the operation.

According to a report by public broadcaster MDR, the suspects are members of two neo-Nazi organizations that have been steering drug sales in the state of Thuringia for several years.

The police operation reportedly resulted from a wiretap.
