England lock horns with old foe Germany as Swedes battle Ukraine

The final last 16 games at the European Championship take place later on Tuesday with England hosting Germany in one of the stand-out games of the tournament so far.

Both failed to really convince in the group stages but the history of their meetings down the years means most eyes will be on Wembley.

Current England coach Gareth Southgate had his key penalty in the Euro 96 semi-final shoot-out saved by current Germany goalkeeping coach Andreas Koepke.

They meet again at a much-changed Wembley with Thomas Mueller set to return to Germany’s starting line-up while there are big doubts around England duo Mason Mount and Ben Chilwell, who have had to train in isolation all week due to coronavirus worries.

Sweden’s clash with Ukraine may have gone a little under the radar but the battle between the two yellow and blue teams in Glasgow looks to be the Scandinavians’ to lose. Ukraine were the weakest qualifier from the groups while Sweden topped theirs with seven points.
