Politicians mourn loss of legendary comedian Umer Sharif

KARACHI: (HRNW) Legendary comedian Umer Sharif has passed away in Germany at the age of 66 years on Saturday, leaving fans across the world sad.

Thousands across the globe, including notable actors, actresses and politicians are paying tribute to the legend.

President Arif Alvi, Prime Minister Imran Khan, Opposition Leader Shehbaz Sharif, PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, PML-N Vice President Maryam Nawaz, MQM-P Convener Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui and other political leaders Saturday mourned the death of legendary comedian Umer Sharif, who breathed his last in Germany today while being airlifted to the United States for medical treatment.

In a message from his personal Twitter handle, the prime minister said that he was saddened to learn regarding the death of Umar Sharif.

“I had the good fortune of touring with him to raise funds for [Shaukat Khanum Memorial Hospital] SKMT,” he said adding that he was one of the country’s great entertainers and will be missed.

Opposition Leader in National Assembly and PML-N President Shehbaz Sharif expressed deep grief and sorrow over the demise of legendary comedian Umer Sharif.

Punjab Chief Minister Usman Buzdar said that the news of the demise of Omar Sharif has saddened millions of fans.

Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Chairperson Bilawal Bhutto Zardari expressed shock and grief at Sharif’s death.

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Sindh chapter has announced three-day mourning over the sad demise of legendary comedian Umer Sharif.

Legendary comedian Umer Sharif will be laid to rest at the graveyard of Syed Abdullah Shah Ghazi in Karachi as per his wish, Sindh Minister for Information Saeed Ghani Saturday said.

Saeed Ghani in a message from his Twitter handle said that measures were taken by the provincial government to make arrangements in this regard.
