12-member committee formed to negotiate between govt and TLP

Islamabad (HRNW) As the PTI-led government finds ways to break the deadlock, a 12-member committee was formed on Saturday to play as the negotiator between the government and the outlawed Tehreek-i-Labbaik Pakistan (TLP).

Religious Affairs Minister Noor ul Haq Qadri announced the formation of the committee in a news conference after attending PM Imran Khan’s meeting with religious scholars.

Qadri said he was hopeful of a breakthrough as the scholars included the committee follow the same ideology as the TLP.

“A 12-member committee has been formed. This committee is in contact with government and TLP leadership,” said Qadri. He added that the religious scholars that met the premier assured him of helping the government in resolving the issue peacefully.

Hamid Raza, one of the religious scholars who is part of the committee, revealed that talks between the government and the outlawed party are ongoing at different places. However, he did not reveal any details as it may harm the talks.

Raza said that the government’s stance was clear and if the TLP march is staying at a point then it is better because if they move then it may “sabotage the talks”.
