‘Bloodshed must end’ in Ukraine, Germany’s Scholz says

German Chancellor Olaf Scholz has called on Russian President Vladimir Putin to “immediately cease all hostilities, withdraw Russian troops to Russia and return to dialogue.”

Speaking after talks with Luxembourg’s Prime Minister Xavier Bettel, Scholz said: “The bloodshed must end. Vladimir Putin is assaulting the Ukrainian people.”

Scholz said that further sanctions packages would be added to those already adopted.
