Pakistan approves vaccines to contain lumpy skin disease

Islamabad (HRNW) The Drug Regulatory Authority of Pakistan (DRAP) has approved two vaccines to battle the rapidly spreading lumpy skin disease.

The virus, which was first reported in October last year, affects buffaloes and cows. It has ravaged cattle farms across the country.

According to Livestock DG Nazeer Kalhoro, DRAP has granted approval for two vaccines. “Huzaifa International has been allowed to import the doses from Turkey while Karachi’s Eros Pharma has been permitted to purchase the vaccine from Jordan.”

Ever since the news of the disease made headlines, foodies have been avoiding consumption of cow and buffalo meat resulting in huge losses for dealers. The outbreak has brought down sales of beef sellers one-fourth.
