Schalke loan Germany U21 midfielder Krauß from Leipzig

Promoted Schalke have secured the services of Germany under-21 midfielder Tom Krauß on loan from RB Leipzig for the coming Bundesliga season with the obligation to buy him should they retain top-flight status.

“We’re delighted to have secured the services of Tom Krauß, one of the best German talents in his age group,” Schalke sporting director Rouven Schröder said Friday.

“He’s a tough-tackling central midfielder with an eye for a pass, has a good vision for the game and bring a bit of aggression in one-on-one situations.”

The 20-year-old Krauß has spent the last two seasons on loan at second division Nuremberg.

Schalke also said Friday they had extended the loan stay of South Korean midfielder Lee Dong Gyeong to the end of the year and youth product Timo Becker had made his loan to Holstein Kiel a permanent move.
