Teams formed for drainage of rain water from highways in Karachi

Karachi (HRNW) It has been decided to form special teams for immediate drainage of water from main highways during monsoon rains in Karachi.

An important meeting was held under the chairmanship of Sindh Local Government Minister Syed Nasir Hussain Shah regarding the cleaning of storm drains. Representatives of relevant agencies were present.

On this occasion, Nasir Hussain Shah said that in view of the expected monsoon rains, all security measures and advance preparations should be completed.

Nasir Hussain Shah said that keeping in view the losses and experience of previous rains, Water Board, Sindh Solid Waste Management Authority, KMC and all DMCs should formulate a joint strategy to facilitate relief to the people. The protection of human life as well as valuable property can be ensured.

Secretary Local Government Engineer Syed Najam Ahmad Shah told Sindh Local Government Minister that in rainy days, flow of water in the canals around Gulistan-e-Jauhar, Yousuf Goth, Nagan Chowrangi and Shahra-e-Faisal should be maintained permanently and main highways should be watered round the clock. Special teams are being formed to keep Claire, who will focus on underpasses and low-lying areas.
