Siraj raps political opponents for ‘not eliminating’ usury

MULTAN (HRNW) – Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Emir Sirajul Haq on Friday schooled the political opponents for not “taking decisive action” to eliminate usury from the country.

Addressing a seminar, Siraj made it clear that his party will continue to fight against usury. Taking a swipe at the prime minister and finance minister, Siraj claimed: “The PM and FinMin have encouraged the usury instead of taking effective measures to eliminate usury.”

“Quaid-e-Azam Mohammed Ali Jinnah had instructed the governor of the State Bank to put the Islamic system into place. However, after Quaid-e-Azam’s demise, British slaves continued to practice usury,” he rued.

On Thursday, Siraj stressed the need for eliminating the usury from the country.

Addressing a public gathering, Siraj lamented: “Despite the British rulers leaving the country, the system of usury is pretty much still in place.”

“Sadly, the country does not yet have a functioning justice system. Every single person in the country is the World Bank and International Monetary Fund’s (IMF) slave,” the JI emir lamented.

He took a jibe at the political opponents, asserting, ‘Both the previous and current rulers have dragged the country into loans from the international lenders.”
